Mmmbop, ba duba dop .. Ba du bop, ba duba dop πΈ ..
Mentions of trojan horses seem to be popping up all over the place right now π€ As if they're featured in a film, or something that's just come out ..
So seeing as they're having their own little moment, I wanted to take a minute to focus on one of the ultimate trojan horse pop songs of alllllll time - 3 brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and their insanely catchy song that's had heads bopping for close to 30 years now - I don't care how cool you think you are, a catchy tune is a catchy tune π€
Searching for a new song to pull some 'data' from for a 3rd data portrait, as soon as MMMBop entered my mind it wouldn't leave - as Hanson intended - and I fell down a rabbit hole, wanting to find out exactly what an 'MMMBop' actually is .. And it turns out, a surprisingly legit idea with depth, all wrapped up cosily in the pretence of a fun-loving pop song.
It's about death.
Ok, not quite .. Well, kind of .. More specifically it's about relationships ending in the blink of an eye, and never really knowing which ones may survive, and which ones won't - both, platonic, and romantic .. 'Can you tell me if it's going to be a daisy, or a rose?'Β πΌπΉ
3 kids, aged 10-14, apparently already had life figured out whilst the rest of us in the low double digits were just whiling away our time suplexing our siblings on the sofa. The understanding of, how fragile relationships can be, how hard you have to hold onto the ones that matter, and then also having the foresight to make sure that that sh*t sounds catchy as hell is a little mind-blowing to me.
.. I'm sure there's already a million and one neat, and messy, trojan horse analogies galloping through peoples feeds - so I'll leave that alone, and just be over here trying to make sure I spell 'Asteraceae' and 'Rosaceae' correctly.
