Back in '08, with a live mic in his face, Scott Steiner, 'Big Poppa Pump', destroyed maths with his flawless logic .. Here's a little remix of one of the greatest wrestling promos applied to something I'm continuously surprised is still up for debate ..

___

.. THEY SAY all design disciplines are created equal - but you look at a static approach, and you look at a complete system that's been built with motion in mind from day one, and you can see that that statement is just not true.
See, with the old way of creating a brand system - you'd have a 50/50 chance it would adapt well across all platforms. But motion is a genetic freak .. It's not normal - so if you're not even thinking about that upfront, then you've only got a 25% chance - at best - of it being seamlessly integrated into your ecosystem.
.. Then you add social media, UI animation, and video content into the mix? Your chances of a cohesive brand strategy drastically go down.
Now that we're all the way in 2026 - brands need to move. And if you think you can just 'hold that thought' or, 'figure it out later', then you've only got a 33 and 1/3 chance your static approach will even hold up .. Because those brands designing with motion from the start - there's a 66 and 2/3 chance that they're going to be leaving you behind - because they know - static thinking just won't cut it today.
So take your 33 1/3 chance of staying relevant, minus the 25% chance you even consider how to animate your logo, or move some type, and you've got an 8 1/3 chance of keeping up .. Meaning, if you take the 75% chance that you're playing catch-up while everybody else is moving ahead - and throw in that 66 2/3 percent from up top - you've got a 141 and 2/3 chance of getting left all the way back in 2025.
The numbers don't lie Jack .. And they spell disaster for anyone thinking they can just keep retrofitting motion into an already existing system.

Maths was never my strong suit but motion design is - and motion-first thinking isn't optional anymore - it's straight up more efficient, and more effective .. It's a new year - plan accordingly.
